How to become a medical biller
To become a medical biller, the candidate should first complete an entry level education by completing GED or high school diploma. An aspiring medical biller should enroll in an accredited medical billing program or online accredited school or university. During the training, one should complete coursework in the following subjects such as basic medical terminology, medical billing, diagnoses and medical coding. In addition, an aspiring medical biller should become familiar with the laws and regulations of their state of employment and the candidate should gain at least 2 years of experience in the field of medical billing or coding. Upon graduating from the medical billing program, one should obtain information from the Medical Association of Billers (MAB) to schedule the certification exam, the Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS) examination.
